Quantonom live

Quantonom is an ongoing collaborative project by artist Vaclovas Nevčesauskas and composer Vytautas V. Jurgutis. It is an audiovisual installation that connects the properties of sound and image through an engineered mechatronic system.

The sculptures function like musical instruments: mechanically moving robotic arms activate an algorithmic score. Screens move through space and reflect projected imagery, evoking an imagined macro-space of unknown particles inspired by early quantum mechanics research.

The sound component by Vytautas V. Jurgutis uses multiple synthesis and sound-processing methods, including additive, wavetable, concatenative, granular and subtractive synthesis.
